I’m Arjun Ram Srivatsa. I am an artist, musician, poet, animator, creative director, video director, video editor, motion designer, graphic designer, sound designer, podcaster, journalist, writer, music critic, birdwatcher, and friend living in Manhattan.
I hold a masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
I’ve made editorial video for publications including The New York Times, Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair. I’ve made commercial work for Ford, McDonalds, and Sony Music. From 2020 to 2021 I hosted Diversity Hire, a podcast about being “POC” in media.

How to Dance Through the Holidays
A few months ago the Culture Desk at The New York Times came to me with an idea: let’s make some silly, goofy, green screen tutorials with incredibly talented people. It was like a key to my heart (pun intended). We started with an absurist dance tutorial with New York choreographer Angela Trimbur.
One night we set up a green seamless in the newsroom photo studio and filmed unhinged tutorials with Angela. Topics included How To Dance When Your Boss Is Watching, How To Dance Before The Ball Drops, and How To Break The Tensions At Your Family Dinner. I started by cutting individual tutorials for the various lessons. Alicia, Tala and Jolie quickly realized that having separate videos on an article page didn’t really work for The Times, since they all would have to auto play. So instead, Tala built them into a scrollable site, with looping dance moves and accompanying text from Melena:
I still had the individual video cuts, so I decided to use those for social. I created a short compilation featuring my favorite lessons:
